It’s everywhere, it has invaded every aspect of our lives, and it has brought about a great many changes to the way we live. Simply put, it’s impossible to even consider a world without the Internet today. It may not all be good, but the fact is that it’s here to stay. The web helps us keep in touch with people in other ends of the world; it provides us with new experiences and encounters; and it is entertaining to say the least. So what do most of the billions of people who use the Internet do online?

According to USA Today, the average American spends around 25 percent of their time online, and the top activities on the web in order of decreasing importance are social networking, online gaming, and emailing. Also, the time spent on email and instant messengers has come down (email and instant chat have been rolled into Facebook and other social networks which seem to have become all-in-one platforms for communication) while that spent on watching videos and movies online has gone up (thanks to the advent of torrent file shares and faster Internet speeds).

Some people do a major part of or all their work online, and for them, the biggest hurdle to achieving their target or getting things done is to ignore the lure of the web. It’s tempting to check mail every few minutes, see if someone has left a comment on your Facebook status or responded to your tweet, play a quick game online in the short break you have, or shoot off a reply to the chat message your friend left seeing you online. The problem with doing all these and much more on the web when you’re at work is that the few minutes you allow yourself often turn into hours, and before you realize it, the whole day has gone by and you haven’t
been productive at all.

Considering the fact that people work and spend time for their personal and social lives, spending 25 percent online on activities that are mostly entertainment-related says something about the irresistible nature of the web. It has us in some kind of a hold, one that we’re unable to extricate ourselves from without suffering withdrawal symptoms and giving in the craving that gnaws at us. Technology today is pervasive, and even if we stay away from our computers, our smartphones lure us to the web with their sleek looks and do-it-all capabilities.

Also, it’s pretty much impossible to isolate yourself from the Internet because if you do, it’s like you’ve cut yourself off from the rest of the world. So the key to making the most of this technology is to use it in moderation, especially for activities that are not really productive and which end up wasting your time and energy without giving you anything in return except a guilty conscience. If you’re able to balance your real life with your virtual one without letting the latter take over the former, that’s when you get the most out of the Internet and its associated technology.

Have you ever wanted to have your name instead of Google. Well if you are a hacker then surely you would be able to change it for every one, But lets not talk about every one, Here are services that let you change it for your computer only. Here are some of the screen shots.

Well you can create your own from these sites:

Shiny Search : Its the best so far, with customisation option to change the style and text.
GoogleMyWay: Another Service which allows you to change the "Google" text into sumthing else.
Ugoogle : Its same as above but has lot of stylish fonts.

You can then set them as your homepage. ;)

Today,I am going to tell you about a plugin for windows media player and Winamp

that will enable you to see the lyrics of the song which you are playing.

Wouldnt it be nice, If we can see the lyrics while listening to the music without opening the

browser and googling for the music.Well today we will look at a plugin called LyricsPlugin

which will enable you to do just that.

The Lyrics Plugin work's with Windows Media Player and Winamp.

How to download videos from youtube without using any service or software.

Today, we will see how we can download videos from youtube without using any service i.e softwares or any website. All we will need to download a video is a browser ;) . With out beating around the bush let me start directly with the process to download the video. I have tried this trick with google chrome.I have used : Google Chrome as an Browser. Youtube as a site to download videos.

NOTE: In onder to avoid confusion later, perform this step .When in google chrome press ctrl+shift+del - to clear your
browsing data or press the wrench sign in the topright conner of google chrome and select Clear Browsing Data.

Firstly, We need to open youtube , and play the video you want to download. Now y

ou just watch your video after it's complete.minimize your browser [note : DON'T CLOSE YOUR BROWSER].

Then go to-

If you are using :

Google Chrome : C:\Documents and Settings\techgeektricks\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

Firefox : C:\Documents and Settings\techgeektricks\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.udq\Cache

Internet Explorer: C:\Documents and Settings\techgeektricks\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Where C is the drive which contains windows. i.e the system -operating system
and techgeektricks is the name of the user.

After reaching the directory mentioned above.Right click and make sure that the view of the files is in tiles. Now look for a file size larger than 3 mb .( Because I Don't think any video will be less than 3 mb ).

After finding the file copy it and paste it in another folder say 'My Documents' now rename that file with an extension of .flv let's say tgt.flv Now open this file with your favorite media player.I personally would suggest you to use VLC Media Player.

NOTE : Some times the file that you have copied is not the video you want to download. Then you have to do is trail and error method.I.E. You need to search for another file which is larger than 3 mb or has an size of an videoand then you need to copy it into another folder and change it's extension to flv as mentioned above and try to play it.

Lock your notepad notes with password.

As security threats increase you can't just distribute your important text documents [written in notepad ] in the Internet or off line.

I used to type my e-mail passwords and other important info in Note pad[.txt file]. Increasing the threat of data theft, Till I discovered a free and open source software called LockNote to protect my files with .

I could have used Microsoft word – to save a doc file with password, But it is not standalone program . I need to have Microsoft word for it to run. But Locknote doesn't require installation , it is a standalone application and free too.

With LockNote your information's will be encrypted using a password and AES 256bit encryption technology.

No installation required

Move LockNotes wherever you want, as often as you want. A LockNote document does not require much more hard drive space than an unencrypted document.
Encrypt existing text files by just drag and drop.

Simply drag and drop existing text files on a LockNote window: they will be encrypted automatically.

LockNote is open source and is based upon open source technologies, e.g. the certified CryptoPP program library for strong encryption.

Using it:-

Type in your information in the text field or just drag and drop you text files, after that click on File>SaveAs and specify the location where you want to save it. And type in your file name and hit save.

Now you are promoted with a Dialog box. Type in your password and hit ok. Now distribute your secure file on line or off line .

Making It more Secure.

While saving it I noticed that it could be made more secure and undetectable.

But for that you need to do a small change in your folder option .
Open my computer click on Tools>Folder Option now select the view tab and un tick the Hide extension for known file types.

Now click on apply and on OK.

Now go back to the location where you have saved your locked file.

Note:- Copy that file name and give it a another name. Creating a backup is always good if you are doing this for the first time.

Right click on it and click on Rename and rename it to filename.dll

[ you can use .zip,.txt,.mp3 and so on instead of .dll ]

You will receive a message like this. Without fear click on ok.

Now to Get it back just rename it to filename.exe

Hotkey	Default	Description
Launcher	Ctrl+Space (or Ctrl+Alt for Mac users)	Press the Launcher hotkey to bring forward the Launcher. Then, simply press the key indicated in the Launcher for the site you wish to launch.
(Alternative) Direct-to-site	Shift+Alt (or Shift+Ctrl for Mac users)	An alternative hotkey which doesn't show the Launcher. It's included for people who would prefer to use their memory instead of the Launcher, you can safely ignore it otherwise. Because this hotkey doesn't provide visual feedback to indicate when it's active, you have to keep it pressed down while pressing the key for the site you want.

Minime - Minimize any window to the system tray

In this article we will look at a free light weight application to Minimize any window to the system tray in a single icon.

Do you run lot of software and your task bar is crowded with icons tab bar of your software,If so then worry no more. Recently I have discovered a software called Minime which allows you to Minimize any window to the system tray .

Minime is a tool that allows you to minimize applications to the system tray using a simple hotkey. What makes this tool somewhat unique is that it keeps your system tray clean by minimizing all applications into a single tray icon.

Minime is a standalone executable that doesn’t require any installation and can even be run from your USB drive, woohoo! All icon files are stored as resources and will be neatly put into your temporary directory. Any custom settings will be placed in a settings.ini file when needed.
The source code for Minime is released as well to allow anyone to learn from or improve the application. The source code can be used without limitations as long as some credit is given and the adjusted code will be released to public. Minime is written in AutoIt.

Sent to Your Folder.

In this article we will look at, how to add your folder to send to context menu.

Do you have a folder which you are in constant touch. I have,I use my personal folder lot and sometimes used to find it difficult to send files to my personal folders , Are you having the same problem if so ,read on...

Sending your folder link to desktop.

Search For your mostly used folder,like Your personal folder.

Right Click on it and select Send to and then click on send to desktop(create shortcut).

Now Got to desktop and copy your shortcut.

Tip: Rename the " Shortcut to file/folder name " in your desktop with just "file/folder" name.

Adding your shortcut link to send to menu

Note:- for this trick to work you must have the show hidden files and folders option enabled. To do so click on tools -> Folder option -> view (tab) and select the show hidden files and folders.

Now go to your Parent drive i.e C: for most users

Then go to documents and settings then to user name and then to send to folder.

Now under send to folder paste your shortcut .

Hurray now your link appears under send to menu.

Create a shortcut to run any software, with XP

Though they are software which allows you to create shortcuts to open your favorite program in one click. [like launchy ]Why let us not take a look at the inbuilt [ windows xp ] trick to create shortcuts of any program.

Just press [crtl]+[alt]+f and your Firefox browser pops up or [crtl]+[alt]+a and your anti virus starts up. Wouldn't that be nice plus without installing any external software.

So let's begin :

Right click on the executable file of which you want to create a short cut of :

Lets Say Firefox.

Now select properties or press the r button .You will see a dialog box like this :

Now under Shortcut Tab search for the label name Shortcut key as shown in the image .

By default it will be [none].Select it and press lets say f.

Note :- Windows automatically adds [ctrl]+[alt] so if you press f. your shortcut will be [ctrl]+[alt]+f

Tip:Try to Use character which is the first character of your software like f for Firefox,o for opera so that you can remember.

Copy the source code and paste it in a notepad, then save it with the .bat extension. Copy it in a Pen Drive, then execute it in the victims computer.

You can also use some exe-binders to bind this virus with any audio,video, text or what ever the files may be then use some social engineering technique to make the victim execute the file by himself to harm his computer.

You can create this virus with out using any third party tools in windows, also instead of exe-binder, you can use the iexpress wizard to create a custom package.

So you have a image precious image stored up in your computer and want to hide it from others then you might just like our way of hiding files using the dos only.

Requirements.

A image file.
A good text editor (notepad will do)

This trick will convert an image file into an not understandable file See the image for more details

How to do it.

If you have read my article of hiding your documents using notepad then,this trick will be easy to follow.In this article I will be showing you,how to hide images in a txt format or any other format and make the image undetectable. Are you ready - Let's begin.

first move your images to c drive.[Create a backup of your image i will not be responsible if it is lost.]
Click on start then on run then type cmd
now type cd\ [press enter]
now take note of your image name and extension lets say techgeektricks.jpj
now under cmd - command prompt
type

ren techgeektricks.jpj techgeektricksjpj.txt

[press enter]

Ren command on command prompt is used for renaming the files.Here techgeektricks in the file name
and jpj/txt is it's extension. I have named the out put file as techgeektricksjpj so that while converting it back to image format it becomes easy.

Now go to the location where your image was located and try to view it.You will notice that the image has changed into a text file.

To get your image back is simple just go to ms dos prompt go to c drive an then type ren techgeektricksjpj.txt techgeektricks.jpj

Where to use it?

You can use it to send images to your friends computer hiding it from spying eyes or you can just keep it in your computer I bet no one will ever find out what is inside those text files unless you tell them it is an image or so.

Extra notes.

You can change the .txt extension to .mp3 or any other extension.

If you change the code or fiddle with the code which you get when the image is changed to .txt extension then the image will be lost forever.So be careful

If you want to send the image hidden as .txt file then you must attach the file itself if you give your friend the code (i.e .txt code) It will not work.

Send notes that will self destruct after being read.

Tricks we are going to perform:-

Remove the My Documents icon from the Start menu and its sub menus.
Remove the search option from the start menu.
Remove Run from start menu.
Remove the My Pictures icon from the Start Menu.
Prevent the opening of start menu and task bar properties.
Lock the task bar permanently.
Remove the balloon tips from start menu.
Remove all programs list from start menu.
Remove the User name(only the name) from the start menu.

Well,This all tricks can be used to play pranks on your friends computer or to in your own computer.

All the tricks require you to go to the Group policy Editor.
To go to group policy editor.

Click on start menu.
click on run.
Type gpedit.msc and press enter
you will see a Group policy editor window
Click/expand Administrative Templates in the left hand side of the window.
and then click on Start Menu and Task bar.
Note: For better editing, see that you are in the extended tab [you can find that on the bottom to the group policy editor].

Now let's begin with the tricks, All are easy.
1. Remove the My Documents icon from the Start menu and its sub menus.

Double click on remove My documents from the start menu. (the third setting.)
You will see it's properties with not configured button option selected.
Now select enable option click on apply and click on OK

(For better info click on Explain tab)
And see the change my documents has disappeared from the start menu.

2. Remove the search option from the start menu.

You might have seen/noticed that when some virus infects the computer the search option gets
disabled.Now without making a virus. You can remove the search opption from the start menu of your friends computer or yours without going into any complication of creating a virus.

After going to the group policy editor and expanding administrative template, to do that see above.

Double click on Remove search menu from Start menu.
You will see it's properties with not configured button option selected.
Now select enable option click on apply and click on OK

Your search menu option will be disabled.

3. Remove Run/help from start menu.

Want to scare your friends by disabling their run and help option from the start menu.
You can disable it in your own computer so that no one will use the run option to perform nasty tricks.
To remove help option.

Double click on Remove Help menu from the start menu.
You will see it's properties with not configured button option selected.
Now select enable option click on apply and click on OK.

To remove run option.
Double click on Remove Run menu from the Start menu.
And follow the i),ii) and iii) steps of the trick no 1.
Now to remove..
4. Remove the My Pictures icon from the Start Menu.
5. Prevent the opening of start menu and task bar properties.
6. Lock the task bar permanently.
7. Remove the balloon tips from start menu.
8. Remove all programs list from start menu.
9. Remove the User name(only the name) from the start menu.
10.More.. tricks.

I hope now that you have figured out what to do :-). So proceed and change
the Start menu and task bar the way you want it to be. But be sure to be in extended tab.

Note:To disable the changes you have made just select the not configured option.

After installing windows.

BACK UP!!!!!

Back up your important files on the Net,C.D,D.V.D,Pendrives or any other media.
after backing up restart your computer.

FORMATING

When you see a black screen writen something in white

press F11 To go to the Bootmenu.
and from the option select cd/dvd after putting the windows xp cd or dvd.
And press space bar to continue when it shows Press any key.

press any key to boot from cd.

AFTER THAT

a Blank screen with a banner at the bottom of the screen will be displayed. Window setup will be written at the top.

and bellow setup is loading files will be written.

Wait for some time.

After that

an Option screen will be shown

Press enter to continue with the instalistian

And press F8 TO agree with the lisence aggrement.[I have never read it.Have you.OOPS :-D ]

Now press ESC to not repair and install a fresh new xp.

now select the drive in which you have the currently installed windows xp commonly c: drive And press d

And again You will return to the dashboard (I call it dashboard ,Inspired from blogger)

now go to the drive you have just unpartioned and press c and press enter.

after that on dashboard press enter highlighting C: drive

I always leave it default

and then setup will format
Setup is formatting will be shown then after 100% Setup is copying files...and other things will be shown.

then your computer will reboot[restart] don't do any thing,then in gui[Graphical user interference ] winddows will
install after installing windows will reboot don't do anything and you will see the welcome screen.[do i need to explain more ]

Hurray you have changed the menu bar now we will change the name of notepad :-)

Steps:
1.on the left hand side you will see StringTable now expand it and expand 1 under it.
now click on 1033.
2.See the right hand side on the 5th line you will see
" - Notepad"
Now change the Note pad to Youname
eg - 5, " - Yourname"
3. after doing these steps click on compile button.

now click on save and after saving just create a shortcut of the hackednotepad on your desktop.

Want to block web Sites without any Software.Without any 3rd party tools than look no further.

Here is a simple trick to block any website .
[I found it while browsing through the windows directory and took a bit help from the internet :-) any way check it out.]

Steps

1] Browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc [or just paste it into the addresbar]
2] Find the file named "HOSTS"
3] Open it in notepad.[Don't tell me how :-D]
4] Under "127.0.0.1 localhost"

Add 127.0.0.2 , and that site will no longer be accessable.
Eg: 127.0.0.2 www.google.com

5] Done!

more example :

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com

- www.orkut.com is now unaccessable

For every site after that you want to add, just add "1" to the last number in the internal ip (127.0.0.2) and then the add like before.

IE (not internet explorer ,it is "That is"):

127.0.0.3 www.yahoo.com
127.0.0.4 www.msn.com
127.0.0.5 www.google.com

Hide files and folders

Hiding a folder.
Steps

Create a folder name it techgeektricks. (don't tell me how!and name it techgeektricks afterwards u can change)
Right click on it and click on properties.
Properties dilog box will appear.
click on hidden under attributes.
click on ok and then apply.

now just referesh your folder is gone.
So u wanna Get it back
there are two ways for this:
First way using address bar

[note:- suppose you have created techgeektricks folder under c:/ directiory(if not do it now it will confuse you afterwards if you are a total newbibe)]

so it is under c:/ directory]
Now on the address bar type

C:\techgeektricks

Now you are under your hidden folder

now do what ever you want ,put whatever you want.

second method:- Folder options

[note:-you have created techgeektricks folder under c: directiory]

now click on tools.
then on folder options
click on view tab
now see the list under advance settings
Hidden files and folders
then click on Show hidden files and folders
click on apply and then ok.
your folder is displayed.

[TIP: make sure you disable it after doing your job]

Advantage of first method over second method:-
in the first medthod you can directly access the folder without changing the properties on the whole. The second method you have
to change the properties which will affect all the folders and files so i you forget to disable everyone can see it. so I Would suggest you to go for the first method.

How to hide important Messages or Documents

If you were wondering how to hide some written text or messages (it should be something which is simple text)
But dont want to use any other software except the faithful and powerful notepad then keep on reading .

Lets take an example , If you want to say "I Love YOU" or want to send your bank no or any thing through internet
you know that It isn't safe to give away you information just like that so you would certainly want to hide,If so then keep on reading.

Steps:
1> Open Notepad.
2> Type your message. Lets say your bank no"45475654".
3> Now click on file->saveas
4> A saveas dialog box will open.
5> Now at the bottom of the box you will see Save as type,
6> Click on the down arrow to get the dropdown list./
7> Select All Files.
8> Now in File name type name.exe // here name is the name of the file

Note
I will suggest you to use the .exe extension since it will create an exeutiable file you can also
Name it this way name.dll,name.clp,name.bat,name.mp3,name.3gp give the extension of anything you know or
just give name.
eg, name.guragai,name.virus,name.com or just give the name you want just take care that you do not put the
extension of .txt or any other text files

9> now click on Save and then close the notepad
10> Hurray!!!! Now you have hidden your message now try to open the file which you have saved
11> Supprized ??!! Did it open or could you see what you have written.
12> So What on earth should i do to open the file? Ok, Now open notepad
13> Click on File->Open, Now go to the place where you have saved the file earlier
14> now open the file
15> hurray the file opened.

What can you do with this,
You can send your message to your GF or BF with out letting any one know what is written inside.
You can send your Bank no or Password to someone And try to figure out how to use this process trick

when i fell boring (off line) I check out Registry (With whom i think Most of the people here
are familiar with).Ok now what you got to do is got to start
then run
now type regedit. or Go to c:/windows/regedit
ok now Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then Software then Microsoft
then Internet explorer
then Typed Urls
the delete those url’s which you don’t need.

note:Don’t delete the default one

Adding password to your Microsoft files

I am using Ms Office 2007.This trick will only work in Ms office 2007 But You still can Put password with older version like 2003.I Think the way should be Same as this….???

1. Open the document which you want to protect.

2. Now click on save as.

3. And then find tool named button on the save as dialog box or try the L key

4. And then on general option (if you can’t find the tool then try the L key and then g )

5. A dialog box general option will open

6. now type the pass word in password to open and leave the password to modify blank

7. click on protect document or press enter then reenter the password

8. now click on save Now when you try to open your document it will ask for password.

Enter the password and You Should be able to see your document...

(Note :- THIS PASSWORD CAN BE EASILY BE BROKEN BY SOME PAID SOFTWARE,BUT STILL YOU CAN PROTECT IT WITHOUT AND WORRIES BECAUSE IT’S PAID SOFTWARE AS FAR AS I KNOW)

Load windows faster by stopping some programs running at the startup

My previous post on loading windows faster (use msconfig to load windows faster) was one option to stop running unwanted programs running at the start up now I have found out a new way Which is quiet easy and detailed.

(-“Both the way will lead you to the same thing.”-)

Way 1
Now head over to the control panel and then Administrative Tools

Note : If you can’t find Administrative tools then switch to classic view.

Now go to Services.

Way 2
Go to start and then Run.

And then type “services.msc” (-: without quotes :-)

You will see Services
Now select any service and you will see its Description on the left side

“E.g. If you select Automatic Updates. You will see
Automatic Updates
Stop the service
Restart the service
Description:
Enables the download and installation of Windows updates. If this service is disabled, this computer will not be able to use the Automatic Updates feature or the Windows Update Web site.”

If you want to disable it then click on Stop the service.
You will see that after windows has disabled it you will not see Stop the service and the
Restart the service.
Now if you have disabled any important program and you would liked to enable it then double click on the program you want to enable you will see properties of that program
And then on start up type drop down select automatic or the option you like.

When you are maintaining a site or a blog the first thing you have to care is your visitors. They should find what they want, then only your blog will be noticed by others, So your blog should have all the features like feeds, comment’s facility....you have to put all sought of gadgets in your blog, now today I am talking about Save a page as pdf gadget in your blog this will allow your blog or site visitor to save any page of your site into a pdf (portable document format)
Now no more introduction let's straight away proceed to the main part

Go to http://savepageaspdf.pdfonline.com/index.asp

Sign up for an account there
Your next step will be to set the Conversion Options for your "Save page as PDF" button.
Now put the information
Paper Orientation: Portrait or Landscape
Paper Margins (Top, Bottom, Left, Right): Specify the paper margins in inches
To see how the PDF is going to look like, simply type the URL of your web page and click on the "Convert to PDF" button.

Tip: You can always use this feature to convert any web page into PDF.

Now click on the "Generate the JavaScript" button to generate the JavaScript necessary to embed the "Save page as PDF" button in your website or blog.
The last step is to copy-and-paste the JavaScript within the body tags of your web page(s), exactly where you want the button to show up.

Changing the image of your local drives

To change the image of your local drive is easy,

First you will need an icon (to create an icon click here)
Copy the icon and paste inside the drive which you want to change

Now open notepad

And put the following code

[AutoRun]
ICON=achutestricks.ico

In the above code achutestricks.ico is the name of the icon

Now click on file and on save as
Put the file name autorun.inf
And the type all files
Now click on save.
Now restart the computer to see the changes..

Creating an icon with paint

press ctrl+e
you will see attributes
and in width put the value 43
and in height put the value 43(we are making a square)
let the unit be pixels
and the colors may be colors
click ok
now create your icon
after creating click on file then save as
Write the file name and then put.ico an end (eg achutestricks.ico)
Let the type be 24-bit Bitmap(*.bmp,*.db)
Now click on save.
Your icon is created

Well if you want to hide my computer,documents,internet explorer and network places from your desktop while keeping other icons in the desk top then click on read more

Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Desktop tab, and then click Customize Desktop
In the Desktop icons area in the Desktop Items dialog box, select the desktop icons that you want to appear on your desktop.
Click OK.
Click OK again.
The icons you selected will be displayed on your desktop.

Use msconfig to load windows faster

When I open my computer it take’s time to load. Manny unnecessary files run on start up which I don’t like. They slow down’s computer loading time, I have found a way to disable some programs running at start up. Check it out!

1 Click on start menu,
2 Then run,
3 Type msconfig and click OK,
4 A dialog box named System Configuration Utility will open,
5 Click on start up tab,

6 UN mark the unnecessary files such as (Yahoo Messenger ,Gtalk, Nero and others........)

NOTE DO NOT JUST UN MARK ANY FILES TAKE CARE OF THOSE WHICH HAVE /WINDOWS/SYSTEM........ THESE WILL BE SYSTEM FILES.(BY UN MARKING SOME OF THEM MAY LED TO NOT PROPERLY STARTING YOUR PC :-)

7 click on apply and then reboot.

8 When you open your computer next time you will see a dialog box

9 Select don’t show this dialog box again and click OK(or whatever)
